Welcome to Best Buddies New York. We are delighted you are interested in learning more about our wonderful programs, which are touching the lives of nearly 15,000 people annually in New York State.
You are visiting us at a very exciting time. We have so much going on in New York and are inviting all of our friends and neighbors in our great state to join us….
On the program side, we have over 60 chapters in Middle Schools, High Schools and colleges going strong and living the mission of Best Buddies every day through one-to-one friendships and group activities that are second to none. Thousands of students signed the ‘End the R Word’ pledge as Best Buddies Chapters led the effort at schools all over the state.
Our High School proms in Albany and Long Island grew to nearly double this year - with more than 350 students attending each event. Students came by the bus load for good food, good music and great friends. It was fantastic to see students from all of the schools making new friends, having a great time with old friends and enjoying an absolutely memorable night. Participants in New York State truly made March a Best Buddies Month to remember.
As we head into spring, special events are planned for people with a wide variety of interests. Our calendar begins with an April 11th Friendship Walk in NYC, followed by a May 8th Friendship Walk on Long Island. Supporters in the Capital Region will have a chance to participate in our Charity Motorcycle Ride on May 22nd or our June 18th Ladies Tennis Outing.
Once the summer has come to a close, our event calendar will resume with a Cocktail Event on September 24th in Albany, a Golf/Tennis/Spa Day on Long Island on September 27th and a Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall, NYC on October 6th. BBNY is anticipating a great deal of growth in the coming years. As we expand our fundraising and awareness efforts, we will look to expand our programs for all of those waiting to be part of Best Buddies. The road to achieving our goals will be a long one, but the view along the way will be great. I invite you to join us and look forward to our future together.
